Maui musician and 2023 Na Hoku Hanohano Award winner Tarvin Makia (center, on microphone) addresses the audience during “A Day of Jazz & Blues” on Sept. 24 at the Ocean Organic Farm and Distillery.
The event was free to the community and accepted $10 donations at the gate for families impacted by the Lahaina wildfires.
Makia performed with the Maui Jazz & Blues Fest Band along with Keali’i Reichel’s guitarist Alan Villeran, as well as Mark Johnstone, Lenny Castellanos and Paul Marchetti of The Mick Fleetwood Blues Band.
Other performers included the Zenshin Daiko Drummers, Maui Jazz & Blues Festival Quintet and Fast Freddy & the Blue Lava Blues Band.
